Up at the north end, past Love Point, the fields run right to the edge of the water and the turn of the year happens in plain view. Big Rock Landscape works both halves of that year: mowing, edging and bed work while the ground is green, then plowing and de-icing once the wind swings northwest and the cold starts meaning it. October is leaf hauling and last cuts; January is a driveway opened before anyone inside is awake. The work changes and the standard does not — a straight edge, a clear surface, a property that looks looked-after in any month. Kent Island hands you both jobs, and it helps to want them both.
