Masters of the Lawn

About Masters of the Lawn

When the azaleas open at Brookside Gardens, all of Wheaton and the north end of Silver Spring seems to remember what color is — and every lawn on the block is suddenly being compared to something. Masters of the Lawn spends April getting turf back on its feet: the winter roughness cut away, the first mows taken at the right height, edges re-established along the drive and the walk. Through summer it is steady mowing and trimming, working around the old shade trees that lean over these yards. Fall brings the leaf work, load after load off the grass. The point of all of it is plain enough — you come around the corner, and the lawn simply looks right.
