About Snowden Landscape
A nor'easter comes up the Chesapeake with the whole width of the bay behind it, and on this stretch of shore toward Deale there is nothing to slow the wind down. Snowden Landscape is out in it before the light, blade down, working driveway by driveway along the water road. Walks are cleared to the pavement and treated for the freeze that rides the storm's back edge, because wet snow here sets up hard the moment the wind turns northwest. The reward is plain and worth being proud of — a black driveway at first light, a clear path to the car, a morning that goes ahead exactly as planned. Then the trucks move on, and the bay goes back to being loud on its own.
