About Endless Rain

There is a gray, soft kind of September rain that drifts in off the Chesapeake and lingers over St. Leonard for a day or two, and after a long summer the lawns drink it in gratefully. Endless Rain carries a name that suits weather like that, and its work is tending lawns where the sandy coastal soil drains quickly, leaving the turf to swing between thirst and plenty. Early fall is a season of recovery here: the heat breaks, the turf thickens back up, and a steady round of mowing and trimming helps it come through looking full. There is something hopeful in watching the brown patches of August fade and the green deepen under low clouds. When the sky finally clears, the lawn underneath is ready to shine.
