There's a joke in the name at twenty degrees, with the road out past Lyons Mill untouched and the wind still up — but spring is exactly what a cleared driveway buys you, a way of getting to the far side of February. Live Spring works the dark end of a Maryland storm, plowing drives, opening walks and running salt across Owings Mills before the first cars try the hill. Snow here often comes in wet and heavy, the kind that packs to concrete by daybreak, so timing beats everything else. The reward is a black driveway steaming faintly under a porch light while the yards on either side are still white. Then the trucks roll to the next address.
