About The Smet Companies, LLC
West of Olney the county turns to farmland, and the last light of a February afternoon runs flat across corn stubble for a mile without hitting anything. Weather comes in from that direction and reaches town without slowing down. The Smet Companies, LLC works the front edge of it — plowing drives and lots, opening walks, spreading salt and de-icer ahead of the freeze that trails every Mid-Atlantic storm. Some nights it is one pass and done; some nights it is four, and the fourth one is the one that counts. What the crew is after is simple enough: pavement, visible, by the time the sky goes gray.
