McDaniel lies along the slender neck of land between St. Michaels and Tilghman Island, with Harris Creek glinting on one side and the open Chesapeake only a short walk away. Lawns here grow in a breeze that tastes of the Bay, under light that seems to come off the water from every direction. Ospreys come back each March to nest on the channel markers, and from then through a long, mild fall the grass wants regular care.
