Late November at the Patuxent Research Refuge, the wood ducks settle in, the meadows go tawny, and the first real cold slides down from the north. Nature Blooms Landscaping spends that turn closing out one season and getting ready for the other. When a storm lands, it is plows on the drives, shovels on the walks and de-icer where the ice wants to set — usually finished before the sky is fully light. Then March comes back around and it is mowers again, trimmers again, the long green rotation clear through October. Two halves of one year, and a property that never has to look forgotten in either.
