About Chicas Enterprise

Late on a July evening, when the light goes gold over the Northwest Branch and the air finally lets go of the day's heat, a freshly mown Hyattsville lawn smells like the entire summer at once. Chicas Enterprise keeps that going through the long green months — mowing, trimming close to fences and foundations, sweeping the clippings off the walk — in a place where grass grows faster than anyone quite believes. When the year turns, the same crew carries shovels and salt down the alphabet streets to open driveways and paths after a storm. Both halves of the work come down to one idea: handing a household its own ground back, clean underfoot and clear to the street. It is ordinary labor done for neighbors, a few blocks from the creek and the trail.
