About Cullison Excavating and Septic

Some nights in Hollywood the snow starts around ten and the phone starts around midnight. Cullison Excavating and Septic runs snow work for this end of St. Mary's County — plowing lots and drives, clearing walks, spreading salt where shade keeps the ice past noon. Three Notch Road may be down to two dark lanes while the side roads and long gravel driveways wait their turn, and those driveways are the job. There is a particular satisfaction in the last pass at five in the morning: the pile squared off at the corner, the pavement showing black, a place ready to open. By the time light comes up over the old tobacco fields, it can look like the storm was somebody else's problem entirely.
