Greenbelt was built for walking — footpaths running behind the houses, underpasses tucked beneath Crescent Road, a whole quiet network that only works if somebody clears it. When a storm settles over this part of Prince George's County, Jawon & Crew is out in the middle of it: shovels along the walks, plow across the drives, salt laid on the steps and the little slopes where a path tips down toward the street. Snowy nights here have a hush to them, streetlights holding their cones of falling white, the scrape of a blade the only sound left on the block. By morning the driveways stand open, the walks are firm underfoot, and the neighborhood gets to enjoy the snow instead of wrestling with it. That is the whole ambition, storm after storm.
