Delmarva Snow & Ice Management

About Delmarva Snow & Ice Management

Caught between the Chesapeake and the Atlantic, a winter storm cannot make up its mind, and Delmarva often gets all three answers in a single night: rain, then snow, then ice. Delmarva Snow & Ice Management plans around that ambiguity — pre-treating ahead of the changeover, plowing once it turns to accumulation, and running salt across lots and walks that will freeze at three in the morning whether or not anything fell. Around Fruitland and Salisbury the ground is flat and the wind comes unbroken off the fields, so drifting can undo a clean lot within the hour. The answer is to go out again, and again, until the surface stays black. Come daylight the drives are open, the entrances are gritted, and the peninsula gets on with its day.
