Out toward Urbana the land opens up and the wind gets room to work, which is why a lot along I-270 can be plowed clean at midnight and drifted shut by three. Design Innovations plows Frederick-area properties with that habit in mind — running the storm rather than the forecast, coming back for the second and third pass, pushing snow downwind so it stays where it was put. Entries get shoveled to bare surface and treated, because a cleared lot with a glazed doorway is only half done. Salt goes down before the refreeze, not after. Snow here is a moving problem, and it gets answered while it is still moving.
