Capitol Snow Management

About Capitol Snow Management

Two in the morning, and the office parks off Route 15 are empty and blue, the lot lights making rings in falling snow. Capitol Snow Management is out in it — plowing lanes open, stacking piles where they will not blind a driver at the exit, salting the walks from the doors outward. The aim is simple and exacting: by the time the first car turns in at six, there is nothing left to explain. Frederick storms often arrive off the Catoctins on the northwest wind and keep going for hours, so the passes repeat until the sky lets up. Clean pavement before dawn is the whole point, and it is worth the hour.
