About D & R Home Services

Snow does not arrive in Fort Washington the way it does up north. It comes off the tidewater damp and heavy, an inch an hour that packs like wet sand, and it lands hardest on the bluff streets looking down toward the old fort and the bend of the river. D & R Home Services works that weather in the dark hours — plowing driveways, cutting a path along the front walks and steps, laying salt on the steep aprons where a car would otherwise slide back to the curb. The reward is small and complete: a drive open before first light, tires that grip, a morning that goes ahead as planned. When the plowing is done and the fog lifts off the water, the street looks like the storm simply passed it by.
