True Blue Crab Lawns

About True Blue Crab Lawns

September in Essex belongs to the water — workboats out early, bushel baskets coming off the docks, the whole town smelling faintly of Old Bay and creek mud. True Blue Crab Lawns keeps the land side in order through it, mowing and edging and trimming the yards that back toward the marinas and the narrow streets running down to them. Grass finally slows after a long humid summer, and that is when a lawn can be brought all the way back to even. Leaves come next, gathered up before they mat into the turf. A cut yard, a swept walk, and room to back a trailer in — that is an Essex autumn done right.
