The first plow run in Edgewood happens in the dark, when Pulaski Highway is still just headlights and salt haze and a Penn Line freight is the only other thing moving. Aces N Jacks works that hour on purpose, clearing driveways, lots and walkways so the first car out of the neighborhood never has to think about it. Storms here come off the Chesapeake undecided, half rain and half snow, and the ice they leave behind is the part that matters, so de-icing gets the same attention as the pushing. By the time the sky goes gray over the Bush River the pavement is dark and wet again and the piles are stacked where they won't block anyone in. That is the whole reward: a street of open entrances, and nobody who had to notice.
