February on the Midshore likes to hand you a thaw and take it back the same afternoon — puddles at noon, a sheet of black ice by five. Snow work here means staying ahead of that swing: plowing drives and lots, clearing pathways and doorways down to the concrete, stacking piles where the melt drains away from the pavement instead of across it, and salting the corners that shade over early. Out toward the open ground near the airport the wind gets a long run at things, so an aisle opened at first light can need a second pass by noon, and it gets one.
