About Knoble Inc.

Four in the morning, ten degrees, and Stringtown Road empty except for the trucks: that is Knoble Inc.'s hour. Snow removal here is a race the customer never sees — lots plowed and stacked, entrances shoveled, brine and salt on the slopes before the first car needs them. Clarksburg's storms rarely announce themselves politely, so the watching starts with the forecast and ends only when the pavement is bare. There is a plain pride in a cleared lot at sunrise, steam rising off the asphalt while the town is still hitting snooze. The snow was here; then it wasn't; the day never noticed.
