About C. L. Grimes Excavating

Most of the year, C. L. Grimes Excavating moves earth — and that turns out to be the right education for moving snow. Chesapeake Ranch Estates is a neighborhood of grades and gravel, driveways that climb, hollows that drift, and a storm here is a problem of terrain as much as weather. Heavy equipment and an operator who reads ground for a living make short work of it: banks pushed well back so the next fall has somewhere to go, gravel left where it belongs, the steep pitches opened without gouging them. When the county trucks have come and gone from the main roads, this is the work that carries people the last quarter mile home. It is done with iron, and it holds.
