About FreshCut&Mulch

April in Brunswick smells like two things at once — cut grass and fresh hardwood mulch — and FreshCut&Mulch is named for both. The town's old terraced yards were made for this work: beds tucked against brick foundations, borders following stone steps downhill, dogwoods lighting up the side streets while spring rain runs high in the gutters. A dark, even bed of mulch does for a garden what a sharp mow does for a lawn; together they make a small yard look composed. The season runs from the first green flush through the last cut, with mowing and trimming holding the middle and mulch framing the edges. By the time summer settles in for good, the beds are already dressed and quiet.
