About Custom Cuts Horticulture and Design

Bowie keeps a piece of formal grandeur at its center — the old boxwood and shade trees around Belair Mansion — and Custom Cuts Horticulture and Design works in that spirit on the residential scale. This is lawn care with a designer's eye: turf shaped to flatter the lines of the house, beds planned so something is always holding the yard's attention, plantings chosen for how they will carry the golden hour. The mowing and trimming are exact, but the thinking happens first — where the eye should travel, where the shade will fall in August, what the front walk should say about the people who live there. On the flat, generous lots of the coastal plain, a yard is a canvas with room to compose. The pleasure of the work is watching a homeowner see their own property as if for the first time.
