First light after a snowfall comes up pewter over the marsh at Dueling Creek, and for an hour Bladensburg is all hush — the old port town white to its curbs. WHATLawn works inside that hour. Sidewalks get shoveled to the concrete, steps swept and salted, driveways cut open so the first commuters back out onto cleared ground instead of guesswork. It is exacting, cold-fingered work, and the reward is exact too: a straight black path through the white, done before the household wakes. The territory runs through Bladensburg and its close neighbors — Cottage City, Mount Rainier, Brentwood — small towns shoulder to shoulder along the river, each one a little easier to live in once the snow is off the walk.
