Gardenology

About Gardenology

There is a week each spring when Bethesda turns operatic — azaleas in crimson and coral, dogwoods opening white above them — and Gardenology plans its whole year around that curtain rise. On the blocks near Battery Lane and Norwood Local Park, the crew shapes beds, refreshes borders, and keeps the lawn beneath all that bloom thick and evenly cut. Summer is maintenance in the fullest sense: mowing, trimming, deadheading the tired and encouraging the ambitious. When the show closes in fall, they cut everything back and tuck the beds in for winter. The name is half joke and half creed — treat a yard like a subject worth studying, and it starts performing.
