Berlin Stump Grinding

About Berlin Stump Grinding

Berlin sits on low, sandy ground a few miles inland from the barrier island, close enough that the light carries an ocean brightness even on Main Street. Berlin Stump Grinding takes on what gets left behind — the loblolly stump at the fence line, the old sweetgum roots humping up through the middle of a lawn. Grinding one down and raking the chips back into the hollow leaves a soft circle that seeds in fast in this climate. The same work covers tree removal and tree trimming, so a job can run from standing tree to level ground between breakfast and supper. Around here a yard is meant to be crossed barefoot, and that is easier when there is nothing left to catch a toe on.
