About Norwood Services Inc.

The blue hour before a winter sunrise is Norwood Services Inc.'s working light. Bel Air's commuters point down Route 24 toward the interstate early, and the driveways have to be open before they are — so the trucks roll while porch lights are the only color on the street. Salt goes down where footsteps will land, blades take the snow off in long passes, and the stacked banks are kept out of sightlines at the road. It is patient, exact work done in the coldest part of the day. The measure of it is what does not happen: nobody shovels before work, nobody slides at the end of the drive, and the morning simply proceeds.
