About Lorenz Lawn & Landscaping

The county trucks take the main roads, but the courts and dead-end streets of Arbutus wait longer when it snows — and that is where Lorenz Lawn & Landscaping earns the winter. Driveways opened, walks shoveled and salted, and the stubborn ridge the road plow leaves across the apron broken up and carried off. Then come the refreeze nights, clear and hard, when the day's melt turns to black ice by ten o'clock; another pass with salt keeps the pavement honest. There is a stillness to a snowed-in town after midnight — streetlights on white, not a tire track anywhere — and good work gets done in it. By morning, the people on these blocks step out onto bare concrete and drive off like it never fell.
