Some winter afternoons the sky over Arbutus goes pewter above the wooded ridges of the Patapsco Valley, and the whole town knows what is coming. AWF Landscape Design reads that same sky — equipment staged, salt loaded, routes planned before the first flake lands. When the storm arrives at dusk they work through it, keeping driveways and walkways open as the snow thickens in the lamplight. By the time the clouds break and slide off toward the water, the drives they tend are already down to pavement. There is a particular satisfaction in that: a storm met head-on, and a town that never quite had to stop.
