Annapolis S & S Snowplows

About Annapolis S & S Snowplows

The serious snows come to Annapolis at night, riding a nor'easter up the Bay, and that is when Annapolis S & S Snowplows goes to work. While the town sleeps under streetlight-orange flurries, the plows run their routes — driveways, lots, and lanes scraped down to pavement before the first coffee is poured near City Dock. There is a craft to it: knowing where the wind will drift snow off the harbor, which hills glaze first, how to stack a pile so it melts away from the walk. Salt goes down ahead of the refreeze, not after. When morning breaks, the driveways are black, the walkways are dry, and the day belongs to everyone else.
