Most of South Yarmouth sleeps through the storm. A&S Services Inc. spends it awake — running Station Avenue and the side streets off it while the snow is still soft enough to move, then coming back for the second pass once the wind off the river packs a drift against the garage door. The work is plowing, clearing walks and steps, and putting sand where the shade holds ice long after the sun is out. Lots get opened first so the morning has somewhere to park; driveways get opened so the morning can leave. A black driveway at first light with white banked neatly on either side is the entire point of the night.
