About Dowling Corporation

At three in the morning the exits off I-495 in Wrentham belong to the plow trucks. Dowling Corporation is out in those hours, clearing driveways, lots and access roads, opening walkways and doorways, and putting down sand and salt where the wind has scoured a surface to glass. Storms here often start as one thing and finish as another — snow, then a fine rain, then a hard freeze by daybreak — so the work is done in passes instead of all at once. By the time headlights begin filling the ramps, the pavement is dark again and the curb lines are back in sight. Nobody is meant to think about how that happened, which is rather the point.
