About Anne Stewart Landscape Design

Worthington is a town of angles — hayfield, stone wall, hill, and a great deal of sky — and a lawn up here has to find its place among them. Anne Stewart Landscape Design mows, trims and tends yards around the Corners and the roads that wander off Route 143, reading each slope for where the grass should be kept and where the meadow should be allowed to have its say. Spring arrives late at this elevation and then all at once; the first cut of the year smells like the whole hilltown waking up. By midsummer the edges run clean along the walls, so the line between yard and field looks decided rather than accidental. In October the leaves come off the grass before frost can press them flat. It is patient work for a place that has always been particular about its own view.
