Late November around Mishawum is all commuter lots and bare trees, the trains going through and the pavement waiting for the first hard freeze. modern landscaping runs the changeover there — final cuts, leaves cleared off before they mat, edges cut in sharp so the winter has something clean to cover. Then the equipment shifts and the season becomes plowing, shoveling and salt, lot lines held open through storm after storm. By April the mowers are back out and the same properties come up green again, trimmed tight along the curbs. Two trades, one calendar, and a city that needs both without much of a gap between them.
