At three in the morning the office parks off Woburn's north end are wide empty planes of snow, acre after acre with no one to see them filled or emptied. FRG Contractor Corporation works those hours: plows stacking piles at the far corners, sidewalks cut open by hand, salt going down on the ramps and loading aprons. By the time the first commuter turns in, the lot reads as though the storm skipped the property entirely. There is craft in the stacking — where the piles go decides whether the lot drains or freezes for a week afterward. Woburn's winters are long enough that the difference matters every single time.
