A December storm reaches Wilmington up Route 38 in the dark, and by four in the morning the driveways off Woburn Street are filling faster than wipers can clear the glass. TLC Landscape works both ends of that year — plowing, walk and step clearing, and sand and salt when the storm turns to ice; then mowing, edging, trimming, and cleanups once the ground softens. Cold slides down the Lubbers Brook lowlands and freezes slush into ruts overnight, so a driveway gets scraped to the pavement rather than skimmed. Seeing a house lit up and its drive already open when the owner steps out is the whole reward. By April the same properties get raked out, edged, and put back on a weekly cut.
