By the middle of October the fields at Yentile Farm go gold at four o'clock, and the maples along the fence let go of everything at once. Giroux Brothers meets Wilmington in that turning — hauling leaves out of lawns and bed corners, taking the grass down to its last cut of the year, then swapping blades for plows when the first storm tracks up the coast. Winter here means clearing driveways and walks, keeping the ice off with salt and sand, and going back out when the wind rebuilds the drift at the end of a drive. Come April the mowers start again, the edges get their line back, and the season resets. It is one long circle around the same neighborhoods, and knowing them well is most of the craft.
