Above & Beyond Tree Care

About Above & Beyond Tree Care

Newton earned the name Garden City honestly: thirteen villages stitched together by street trees, with maples arching over Commonwealth Avenue and oaks standing in yards older than the driveways beside them. Above & Beyond Tree Care works among them, from the tight lots in Nonantum to the deep back gardens above Crystal Lake and the wooded edges of Cold Spring Park. Much of it is pruning — the patient, unglamorous kind that keeps a copper beech balanced and lifts a canopy up off a roofline — with removals when a tree has come to the end of its span. October brings the calls that can't wait, a limb down across a walk after a wet snow arrives before the leaves have finished falling. What gets left behind is meant to look like nobody hurried: clean collar cuts, no ruts in the lawn, the street given back to its trees.
