At noon on the green at Park Square the shade sits in hard-edged pools and the downtown grass looks like it has been ironed. Hedge's Landscaping, LLC chases that same look on Westfield's home lawns: regular mowing, a crisp edge along the walk, beds trimmed back until the line between planting and turf is a line you could draw. Summer here runs hot and then breaks open in a thunderstorm off the western hills, and grass that has been cut on schedule takes both in stride. There is real pleasure in the last pass, when the lines finally close and every clipping is gone. A lawn like that makes a whole street look intentional.
