From the high fields above Tisbury Great Pond you can see the barrier beach and, beyond it, the whole gray Atlantic minding its own business. Martha's Vineyard Landscape Company keeps the lawns up on that ground — mowing on a weekly turn all summer, edges cut clean, beds trimmed, spring and fall cleanups carried away. August scorches the grass gold near the water and September hands the color back. When a winter storm crosses the Sound and sticks, the plows go out for driveways and walkways, with sand where ice sets up hard in the ruts. Ground tended in July, ground opened in February: same houses, same hands.
