October comes into Waltham along Trapelo Road, where the old oaks at Waverley let go nearly all at once and Beaver Brook runs loud after a week of rain. William's Landscaping is out in the middle of it, hauling the fall cleanup, mowing while the grass still bothers to grow, edging and trimming so the end of the season looks deliberate rather than surrendered. Then the light thins, the brook goes quiet under a skin of ice, and the same trucks come back wearing plows, clearing driveways, walkways and lots and laying salt where the cold sits longest. April flips the work over again - cleanup, mulch, feeding, the first mow of the year on a lawn that waited all winter for it. The pride here is in continuity: the same yard, kept, month after month, by people who know every corner of it.
