The Yard

About The Yard

Some of the finest ground in Uxbridge is small — a village side yard, a strip of grass between a porch and a stone wall, the kind of spot where the river's noise carries over on a still June evening. The Yard tends exactly that sort of place: mowing, edging, close trimming where a mower cannot fit, clippings and leaves carried off rather than left to scatter. Beds get mulched, borders get drawn true, and the walk gets swept until it is clean underfoot. Spring opens with the cleanup, fall closes with the leaves, and the long middle is a steady weekly visit. A lawn does not have to be big to look like somebody loves it.
