About BLS

The Topsfield fairgrounds go silent in January, acres of white with the buildings shut and Route 1 humming cold off to the east. BLS works that season across town — plowing driveways and lots, clearing walks, salting and sanding the pitches where Topsfield's hills turn a short driveway into a genuine problem. Storms arrive here off the Ipswich valley damp and heavy, the kind that load a shovel and then set like plaster. The trick is the second pass, after it quits, when nobody wants to go back out. That is the pass that leaves a driveway usable a week later.
