Late November at Preston Beach, the wind comes over the seawall carrying spray and the last of the oak leaves with it down the street. Shoreline Landscapes closes out the Swampscott year in that weather, running the fall cleanup that strips the beds and clears the lawns before the ground locks up. The rest of the calendar is the steady part — mowing, trimming and edging, week in and week out, along streets where the ocean is never more than a few blocks away. Grass grown in this air comes in thick and stays green late, which makes a clean cut show all the more. Come April the whole cycle opens again with a spring cleanup and the season's first pass of the mower.
