Monument Avenue keeps its long green center, and spring announces itself there before anywhere else in Swampscott — crocus first, then the grass returning all at once after the last raw week of March. Frank landscaping and Masonry LLC opens the season with cleanups, raking out the sand and grit the coast throws into every yard over winter. Then the weekly rhythm starts: mowing, trimming, edging, a fresh line cut where lawn meets walk. There is pride in the first cut of the year, the way it declares the cold finished. By November the same hands come back through for the leaves.
