Martino Tree Services

About Martino Tree Services

Sunderland lives on river bottom — flat, dark, generous ground between the Connecticut and Mount Toby, tobacco barns standing out in the fields and the Buttonball sycamore spreading over North Main like a piece of weather. Martino Tree Services works among trees of that scale and the smaller ones that keep the town's houses cool. Pruning is done with a tree's own habit in mind; trimming clears the barn roof, the wires, the driveway; a removal happens when a trunk has hollowed or a leader has gone. Wind funnels down the valley and spills off Toby in gusts, so storm damage cleanup is a standing part of the calendar here. Afterward the field edge is tidy and the sycamore goes on doing what it does.
