About Fitch Hill Landscaping

October comes to Sterling in low gold, the light slanting long over the apple hills and the stone walls that stitch one field to the next. This is the country Fitch Hill Landscaping keeps — the rolling orchard land and wooded lots of central Massachusetts, where a cut lawn holds its clean edge right up to the tree line and a ground-out stump leaves a yard suddenly open to the sky. There is a plain, physical satisfaction in the work: grass mowed even before the dew has burned off, an old maple root chewed down flush with the soil, a driveway scraped bare while the storm still ticks at the windows. When winter shoulders down off Wachusett and packs the back roads deep, the plow goes out and the morning is clear before Sterling is fully awake. Trimmed, opened, and tended, the place is handed back a little easier to live on — ready for whatever the sky sends next.
