April on the city's eastern edge, out near Five Mile Pond: the frost is coming out of the ground, everything underfoot is soft, and the lawns still look flattened and gray. That is Logan's Lawn & Landscape LLC's favorite month to start — the cleanup that lifts the matted grass, the first cut that wakes the color back up, then mowing and trimming straight through to leaf-fall. Once the ponds skim over and plowing season opens, the same trucks are out clearing driveways and salting the walks. The year has two distinct halves here and the crew works both of them. What carries across is the habit of leaving a place tidier than the weather found it.
