About Grass Cuts
When the last frost loosens its grip on the Pioneer Valley and the Connecticut River runs brown with snowmelt, the lawns of Springfield begin to wake — and that first push of green is where Grass Cuts starts its year. Working the yards of this old City of Homes, from the brick streets shaded under the maples to the open lots that run west toward the Berkshire foothills, the crew keeps the grass low and even straight through the long valley summer. There is a plain pride in a mowing line drawn true, in an edge trimmed clean against the walk, in a yard that holds its color from the first warm week clear to leaf-fall. It is close, patient work — the kind that leaves a street looking tended and a whole season neatly kept.
