Watershops Pond lies long and still behind the old armory works, and on a June afternoon the air above it is full of wings. Dragonfly Lawn & Landscape takes its name from that and its season from it too — mowing, edging and trimming the lawns on the streets that slope down toward the water, week in and week out while the grass is up. Springfield summers are humid and generous; a yard can go from trim to shaggy in six days flat. The crew stays ahead of it, so a lawn looks on Friday much the way it did the hour it was cut. When cleanup time comes around in spring and again in fall, the rakes come out and the beds get their edges back.
