About Swenson Stone Works

The traprock spine above town — Bare Mountain, the ledges, the old columns of stone the ice left behind — sets the weather for everything below it, and what falls on the ridge is soon in the driveway. Swenson Stone Works takes on the winter side of that: plowing drives and lots, opening the parking areas, shoveling steps and walks clear, and laying down salt or sand where slabs and stone go slick. Frozen ground and stone edges take a careful blade, and that care is the difference between clearing a drive and chewing it up. Nothing beats standing back at first light and seeing a whole property opened, banks neat, edges intact. That is the day's work, from December through March.
